Jody Fuller is a keynote speaker, motivational speaker, clean comedian, TEDx speaker, leadership trainer and retired U.S. Army Major who blends humor, resilience and real-world leadership to inspire audiences across the country. He doesn’t just entertain — he connects, equips and challenges people to become better leaders, teammates and people.
Growing up in Opelika, Alabama, Jody faced two significant obstacles: poverty and a lifelong stutter. Joining the U.S. Army shortly after high school solved the first. The stutter stayed. Rather than let it define him, Jody embraced discomfort, discipline and resilience — the same principles that shaped his 24-year military career and now shape his speaking platform. He served four years as an Army medic before earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery. After September 11 he returned to service, completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Transportation Officer. During Operation Iraqi Freedom he led one of the Army’s largest platoons, later completed two additional Iraq deployments with the Alabama National Guard, and finished his career in the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Major.
His comedy career began on a stage in Samarra, Iraq, on New Year’s Eve 2003, performing for the soldiers of the 1st Stryker Brigade. Since then Jody has performed in 45 states and entertained U.S. troops in 15 countries with Armed Forces Entertainment and the USO, opened for Jeff Foxworthy, released a full special with Dry Bar Comedy, and delivered a TEDx talk on how a perceived flaw can boost your confidence. He is a John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Coach and Trainer, a U.S. Army Master Resilience Trainer, ASIST certified, and a 12-time contributor to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
Jody has been recognized as one of Alabama Magazine’s Top 40 Over 40, named by GI Jobs Magazine as one of 15 Veterans Taking the Comedy World by Storm, and by It’s a Southern Thing as one of 15 Southern Comedians Who Will Make You Laugh ’Til You Cry. His clients include The Boeing Company, Marsh McLennan Agency, Alabama Power, Georgia EMC, TVPPA, RE/MAX, the Georgia Department of Education, the Florida National Guard and hundreds of churches, chambers, school districts and associations.
Every Jody Fuller program is 100% clean. His signature keynotes — Leadership That Lasts, Laughing Through Life: Turning Trials into Triumph, and Listen, Learn, Lead: The Heart of True Communication — are customized to each audience, and his after-dinner clean comedy show is a staple of annual meetings, awards banquets and fundraising galas. Jody lives in Opelika, Alabama and travels nationwide. If they’re laughing, they’re listening.
Stage Introduction
Read it as written. Jody built the last line to get him on stage to applause.
60-second introduction
Our speaker tonight grew up in Opelika, Alabama with a stutter he still has and a sense of humor that got him through it. He enlisted in the Army after high school, served as a medic, commissioned as an officer after 9/11, led one of the Army’s largest platoons in Iraq — the first of three deployments — and retired as a Major after 24 years of service.
Along the way he became a TEDx speaker, a Dry Bar Comedy comedian, a John Maxwell Certified Leadership Speaker and a 12-time Chicken Soup for the Soul author. He has performed in 45 states and for our troops in 15 countries, and he has one rule he has never broken on stage: it is always clean.
He says that if they’re laughing, they’re listening — so listen up. Please welcome retired Army Major, keynote speaker and clean comedian, Jody Fuller!
